Competency model design
PDF Print

Think of your ideal employee. What are the attributes or characteristics they possess?

Without fail, whenever we ask managers this question we end up with a long list of attributes, but the really interesting thing is that the list is almost entirely made up of things that are attitudinal or behavioural in nature. Job knowledge and competence is usually a given, but what managers really value about their best people is how they go about the job. Managers would rather have someone who was less experienced, qualified or skilled as long as they display the right behaviours!

Being clear on the specific behavioural competencies your people need now, and in the future, to maintain the success of the business is central to being able to recruit, develop, promote and retain the right people.

How people work together to get things done, how they interact with your customers and how your managers behave towards their people is what defines the organisation’s values and culture.

We can help you identify the key competencies and specific behaviours that differentiate success in your business. We can then help you integrate the model in to your people management processes to ensure you have the right people in place and that they are all contributing to the success of your organisation.
