Management Coaching

Coaching is where an independent coach encourages a “coachee” to evaluate their current level of performance, set goals for higher levels of performance and put in place actions to achieve that performance. It is done on a one-to-one basis. It is not about the coach “advising” the coachee or telling them what to do – no-one likes to be told what to do! Instead the coach uses questions to guide the coachee. Coaching can help sports people improve their game, individuals work on their lives and careers and managers improve their performance.
We focus on helping managers improve their confidence, skills and performance.

Coaching is an extremely powerful tool for developing people where a traditional training course might not be appropriate. Training courses are useful when a number of people require additional knowledge and skill in a particular subject. However, they are less effective at helping people change their behaviour. The difficulty is that behaviour only changes on a sustained basis when our attitudes change. To have a real impact on someone's behaviour (and therefore their effectiveness) requires several things to happen:
-
people need to have their awareness heightened regarding how effectively (or not) they are currently operating
-
people need to accept that there is room to improve their performance
-
people need to take responsibility for changing ineffective behaviours and building on effective behaviours
-
people need to commit to doing things differently on a sustained basis
Coaching is, therefore, highly effective where:
-
an individual needs help making the link between their behaviour and their performance
-
the issue is not one of knowledge or skill, but attitude and behaviour
-
the development need is urgent
-
the coachee’s time is valuable
-
the coachee’s status precludes them from attending a traditional course
-
there are not enough people to fill a traditional course

Coaching is an extremely cost-effective way to help people significantly improve their performance. It allows the coachee to build a strong trusting relationship with their coach in an independent, safe environment thereby allowing them to address their development needs in a non-threatening, non-judgmental way. Above all you will see a marked development in people within a few sessions.

we contract with the employee and their manager regarding the purpose of the coaching and what the objectives should be
-
we raise the coachee's awareness through a combination of 360º feedback, psychometric profiling and self-reflection
-
we help the coachee define clear goals and put in place actions to achieve those goals
-
we work with the coachee over several sessions to help them put their action plans in place
