Management Development

Let's face it, most managers either lack confidence and are nervous when it comes to dealing with people issues or they are so aggressive that they do not realise the impact they are having on their people. Although there are some differences between leadership and management, all managers (at all levels) should display a combination of management skills and leadership qualities - leader-managers

We help leader-managers develop their ability to manage others effectively by designing bespoke management training programmes and/or providing individual coaching.

Good management and leadership has an enormous impact on the performance of any organisation . Good managers will have a positive impact on their people and, therefore, the business. Bad managers will have a detrimental impact on their people and, therefore, the business.

By improving the way people are managed you will :

  • see a reduction in costs associated with absenteeism and people leaving the organisation
  • hold on to your best people for longer
  • have higher performance and productivity from your people
  • spend less time dealing with people issues
  • create a more positive environment and culture
  • find that people want to put more effort in to achieve greater results

We design and deliver supervisory, management and leadership development programmes drawing on best practice and leadership theory in addition to our experience of what works well. For us leadership development is partly about knowledge, but ultimately about changing behaviour - if your leaders continue to do what they always did, they will get what they always got!

Although our programmes are always designed specifically for the needs of your business we have found that using a combination of the following elements will result in the programme being more successful:

  • raising individuals' awareness of their specific development needs using a combination of 360º feedback and psychometric assessment (for example Leadership Practices Inventory, Situational Leadership, Lominger Voices, EQ-i, DISC, Saville Consulting Wave )and other instruments such as the Conflict Styles Inventory, Influencing Strategies Inventory etc. to assess interpersonal style depending on the need
  • delivery of workshops and modules over time to minimise time out of the office at any one time and to allow delegates to apply their learning back in the workplace.
  • allowing delegates to work on a real business challenge throughout the programme to maximise the payback of the programme for the organisation.
  • one-to-onecoaching to support delegates on an individual basis to maximise the transfer of learning from the programme to the workplace.
  • constant review of personal development plans throughout the programme designed to maximise transfer of the learning back into the workplace.

In fact we believe in it so much that we have developed an open programme based on our work with our clients. Fundamentals of Management is our new 4 day, 2 module programme designed for everyone who manages people, but lacks confidence or has never had any formal management training.
