Train to Gain

Train to Gain is a government funded initiative, launched by the Learning and Skills Council (LSC). Train to Gain traditionally have helped organisations gain funding in areas such as National Vocational Qualifications (levels 2 and 3), literacy, numeracy and language. 

Based on feedback from organisations it was apparent that funding was also required at a more senior level for leadership and management development.

Funded through Train to Gain, the Leadership and Management Programme funds training for managers, supervisors and leaders of organisations to develop their leadership skills, which will in turn help their organisation grow.

One person in your organisation who shares responsibility for the organisation's leadership and develoment can be nominated to receive up to £1000 inc. VAT worth of funded Leadership and Management Training.

 To be eligible for this funding you must:

  • Have between 10 and 4999 employees
  • Be based in the South East of England - as this is currently a trial it has not yet been opened up to the rest of the UK.
  • Have a requirement for management development within your organisation

Quite simply the benefits are to receive up to £1000 towards any leadership or management training you might want to do.  Train to Gain allows you to take advantage of funding to provide development for your leaders.

We can help you identify your training needs and work with you to design any training you might need. We will then liaise with you and a representative from Train to Gain to help you create a brief development plan to clearly define your requirements. Any training identified in the development plan can include either formal training such as achieving qualifications or informal training such as coaching and mentoring. The choice is yours. If we can't provide that training for you then we will help you find someone who can using the Train to Gain service.

Examples of eligible training might include

  • Supervisory/Management skills training
  • Facilitation of a strategy/management meeting for you and your team
  • One to one coaching for one of your supervisors/managers to improve their performance
  • Or you might not know!
